Glow Bambino - Sara Hemmings
Tell us a little bit about your business.
Glow Bambino creates worlds of wonder for babies and tots, using our unique rainbow of lights, glowing objects, puppets, music and magic each week we transport our tiny people and their parents to a world of adventure, sensory fun and learning. Aimed at tiny babies through tots we provide weekly theatrical developmental sessions as well as educational nursery visits, birthday parties and even sessions that can be used at corporate events.
We also provide rainbow lit baby massage courses using light therapy technology and diffusers to enhance the sessions and surround the babies within a calming atmosphere that supports them through all the senses, as well as creating a supportive and gentle atmosphere for parents to bond with and learn a skill that will support them as they develop in to their parenthood journey.
What inspired you to set up your business?
Once I became a mother and started to attend a variety of different baby development, toddler and support groups I realised the important role these groups have to play in a person’s journey into parenthood, but felt that more could be added, that possibly some of the wonderment was missing.
So, having a background in theatre, community learning, early years and social work I felt that this was something that I could look at changing. I also wanted to find a way to work but to work around my young and growing family, so that my family came first rather than work being the priority.
And so Glow Bambino was born, with a combination of all the things I had learnt over the years along with a splash of magic and some wonderment each week together we travel on amazing glowing adventures.
What gave you the final nudge/ push to go for it?
My final nudge was when my husband had to work away every week and I was trying to juggle everything, School runs, a one year old and nursery age child and work the 9 to 5, three days a week. I needed to take the leap of faith in my business, so left my long-term employment in Children and Family Services to concentrate on building Glow Bambino and looking after my family.
What has been your biggest challenge to date?
Describe your greatest success/ the thing you are most proud of?
Feedback from parents who came two years ago, who have told me they have made their lifelong friends at our groups and that they have beautiful memories of taking their baby to our groups.
I am also proud that we are starting to franchise the business and of course being part of the #SmallBiz100
What motivates you to keep forging ahead with your business?
My children keep me motivated and moving forward with my business. I love supporting parenthood and people going through their parenthood journey. I have the desire to create a small piece of magic in people's week!
Thank you so much to Sara for sharing her story with us here at Cat's Pajamas. We always feel inspired hearing about the journeys of others.
