Quiet the Hive - Jane Galloway - Founder and Director

Jane doing what she does best - empowering women through Quiet the Hive.

Tell us a little bit about your business.

Quiet the Hive represents the way in which women work as a community, hold so much for so many, are independent beings who are strongest in support of each other, and how we need to quiet the hive in our mind – the constant buzz that is sometimes so tricky to manage. We aim to share ideas, hints, tips and challenges that work to inspire, energise and empower women (and men) to lead from every level, and to make space for work and life beyond.

Our aim is to leave you feeling courageous, joyful, inspired, confident and curious through coaching, peer mentoring, workshops and thought leadership.

What inspired you to set up Quiet the Hive?

It took me until I was 40 to realise that my imposter syndrome could be resolved. I didn’t want other women to have to wait that long! One of the catalysts was through coaching and mentoring a group of incredible women who didn’t really realise how amazing they were. I knew that if I could get them in the same room, they would learn from each other, challenge each other and support each other to reach and see their true potential. That came true in bucketloads! That was the kindling for the spark of Quiet the Hive that was buzzing around in my head.

What gave you the final nudge/ push to go for it?

The final kick to set up as a business was as a result of a conversation with a brilliant woman who heard about a workshop I had done through my day job and wanted me to come and deliver it to her women’s network. That became my first official speaking gig as Quiet the Hive; helping people to understand how they could bring their authentic selves to work, and be more impactful leaders because of it.

I am where I am because of my tribe. The saying ‘empowered women empower women’ couldn’t be truer for me.

What has been your biggest challenge to date?

Carving out the time while juggling a full time job, motherhood and all the stuff that life throughs at you has been tricky. The joyful thing though is that Quiet the Hive never feels like ‘work’. It’s fun!

Learning how to run a business has been a journey too!

Describe your greatest success/ the thing you are most proud of.

Can I have two? The absolute jewel in Quiet the Hive’s crown is the Amazing Women Leaders (AWL) Group. The bravery, challenge, support and love that is evident is so powerful to me. I am so proud of the work that these women have done together, and am delighted to say that I was the catalyst.

This one quote says it all for me:

“It is hard to put into words what AWL means to me and the difference it has made in my life. The women in AWL are my support, my encouragement, my inspiration, they have given me courage to make bold decisions and have difficult conversations, they have coached me through interview preparation (even sending words of encouragement and reminders of the power pose just before entering the interview!), supported me to stand up for what is right, they are my cheer leaders, my critics, my coach, my confidants and my first port of call when I need a boost and have become my friends.” L - NHS Senior Leader

AWL being launched as an open programme, so I’m delighted that other women will be able to have this rich and powerful experience through Quiet the Hive.

My other delight is that all my work to date has been garnered through word of mouth. I think that says enormous amounts for my reputation, impact and brand, which makes me exceedingly proud of myself and what I’ve achieved in such a short space of time.

What motivates you to keep forging ahead with your business?

It’s always the ‘aha’ moments. Whether that’s in coaching, workshops or through the AWL. When something lands for someone and you can see the deep and absolute impact, it makes me glow!

I absolutely believe in what I do and the abundant difference it can make to the people who connect with Quiet the Hive. Our business aim hangs entirely on wanting to leave people feeling confident, joyful, inspired, courageous and curious about their work and their life. When I see that happen (which is frequent) I absolutely know I’m in the right space.

It also helps that it never feels like a chore; it’s fun!

Thank you so much to Jane for sharing her story with us here at Cat's Pajamas. We always feel inspired hearing about the journeys of others.
